Aluminum

Natural Aluminum

Aluminum has become the perfect way to produce a polished or brushed metal look for letters and logos cost effectively. This metal gives the bright look needed for certain decors.

Painted Aluminum
Our letters are cut-out or fabricated in aluminum, primed, then coated with the finest paint available - acrylic polyurethane. This long lasting finish is available in any PMS color as a standard.

Stainless Steel
This beautiful metal in brushed or mirror finish is the only material available that will literally last a lifetime. It will not rust or oxidize and requires no protective coating for exterior use.

Chrome Plated Brass
This process will provide you with the same rich look as stainless steel at a lower cost. For interior use it requires no care, for exterior use it will require occasional polishing.

Foam

Cut-out & painted foam makes for excellent temporary or low budget signing. For interior use only.

Vinyl
Computer-cut vinyl is the perfect method
for lettering glass and other smooth surfaces.

Metal Plex
Thin (.020") metals laminated to acrylic plastic can be cut-out for lettering & logos. The available colors & finishes make it possible to match any decor.

General Information

Finishes

Clear Lacquer:
Protective coating used on brass, bronze, copper and aluminum to inhibit oxidation. Recommended for interior use only. This finish will generally not last outdoors.

Anodizing (On Brushed Aluminum Only): A hard glass-like coating for long lasting exterior use.

Due to the nature of anodizing, there may be a slight color variation among letters on black and bronze finishes.

Polyurethane Paint:
The finest paint available for exterior or interior use. With the standard high gloss finish, it is extremely durable, non-porous & will maintain its color much longer than baked enamels or lacquers. It is also available in semi-gloss or matte finish.
Colors: Virtually any color is available; specify by PMS numbers.

Recommendations for Exterior Use:
For A Brass Look:

Real Brass or Bronze uncoated - must be polished regularly
Brilliant Gold Paint over Aluminum Letters - requires no maintenance

Oxidized Bronze - will oxidize more with age - requires no maintenance
(Note) Clear coated metals will pit and oxidize unevenly outdoors.

For A Silver Look:

Stainless Steel - requires no maintenance

Chrome Plated Brass - requires occasional cleaning & polishing

Anodized Aluminum (Brushed Finish) - requires no maintenance

Cast Letters:
We can provide cast metal letters if desired, but our letters are available in cut-out & fabricated for several reasons:

Most sizes and thicknesses can be achieved
Any typestyle or logo is possible

The selected alloys used in cut-out and fabricated letters produce a much finer quality when sanded & polished than cast metals.

Polished Faces:
Our letters are sanded & polished to at least a #8 mirror polished finish. Cast letters can only be polished to a somewhat foggy #6 or #7 finish.

Custom Work:
This catalog has been simplified for ease of specifying. If you require something not shown in the catalog, please ask - we can most likely provide it for you.
